CHARLESTON, S.C. — Sonepar USA, a subsidiary of the privately held Sonepar Group, recently partnered with PFLAG, an internationally recognized force in the fight for inclusions, affirmation, and equity, to demonstrate support for the LGBTQ+ community and those who support them.
“We remain focused on ensuring our work environment is a place of trust and respect,” said Selenah Njoloma, Director of DEI at Sonepar in the U.S. “With the help of Pride, our LGBTQ+ employee resource group and allies, we have created a Diverse Associates Benefits Guide, promoted our parental and bereavement leave available to all parents and partners regardless of marital status, enabled gender identity and pronoun designation within company profiles, and now formed this wonderful alliance with PFLAG.”
Earlier this year, Sonepar partnered with Out & Equal, the premier organization focused on LGBTQ+ workplace equality, to receive training on recruiting LGBTQ+ talent. Rob Taylor, President of Sonepar North America, also signed an inclusion commitment statement that was published across the company’s internet and intranet.
An excerpt reads: “We are committed to a fair, equitable and respectful workplace environment for all Sonepar associates. We reject discriminatory treatment of any marginalized community. Powered by Difference, we will remain the great company associates join to do their best work.“
“Progress is coming from both directions,” added Njoloma. “The leadership team is committed to improving diversity and living up to our stated values, and associates are joining resource groups and making their voices heard.”
