BERNALILLO, N.M. — Mountain States Agency, LLC (MSA) is proud to announce the addition of two principals, Samantha Barnes, and James Ross. This addition to the MSA ownership team will provide a succession plan that will ensure that MSA will continue forward over the next 20 years. “We are thankful to Mark for his continued mentorship and this opportunity. We look forward to helping carry the agency forward for many years to come,” said Barnes.

Samantha has been in the electrical industry for 14 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree, she took a job in electrical distribution. Having worked at a distributor, a manufacturer, and now a manufacturer rep agency, Barnes can easily connect and understand the pain points and perspectives across the three groups. Samantha was the first employee at Mountain States Agency and has been with the company for 10 years. Barnes was also the recipient of tED magazine’s 30 Under 35 Award in 2023.

Ross has been in the electrical industry for 18 years. After working as a lineman in the utility market for 12 years, he earned a master’s degree in business and joined Mountain States Agency in 2017. “We will always strive to provide the highest quality of customer service, knowledgeable outside sales team and a culture that wants to win with its partners,” said Ross.

With 34 years in the electrical industry including 25 years in Electrical Distribution, Mark Delaney decided to start Mountain States Agency in 2012. Mountain States Agency has grown to represent Manufacturers across New Mexico, Colorado, El Paso, Texas, Wyoming, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Mountain States Agency accredits its success to offering top-tier customer service, ethics, solution-based selling, winning or losing with distributor partners, and the simple philosophy of doing the right thing.

“I built Mountain States Agency with the vision of building a company where the next generation can enjoy this industry as much as I have. I believe it is vital to a company’s success to have a solid succession plan,” said Delaney.

This change has been in the making for a long time.

I had the pleasure of working with Mark over 25 years ago and can say first hand that integrity is such a big piece of who Mark is and obviously the culture that he instilled into Mountain States Agency. Mark is such a positive force in the Electrical industry and I wish him and his successors continued success. Hopefully now Mark will have more time to focus on improving his golf game, if my memory serves me, his game really needs the improvement.

Independent Electric Suply out of California, not to be confused with Independent Electric Supply in New England
