Hubbell Lighting Interns Spend the Day with Habitat for Humanity

The Hubbell Lighting Components Summer 2017 Intern class participated in a day of service to the community. Six interns and their managers helped Habitat for Humanity in Elgin, Ill. build a new home. They were joined by Components’ Vice President and General Manager, John DiNardi.

The three bedroom home is new construction rather than a renovation project. The intern group spent the day roughing in HVAC enclosures, laying subfloor, and installing porch soffit. The family, who emigrated from Algeria, hope to move into their new home before their second child is born this fall.

Hubbell regularly supports Habitat for Humanity through the Hubbell Foundation. The Lighting Components business also donated $3,000 to help finish Toufik and Fatima’s home.

DiNardi said, “It feels great to give back to our community and make a difference in someone’s life. We all appreciate the opportunity we have in Elgin to work for Hubbell, and it was great to see supplies from other Hubbell brands like RACO being used in the construction.”
