NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jennifer Jaques will be assuming a new position with IES as Director of Membership. This new role will lead and manage all Society functions related to membership services and is responsible for implementing strategies to provide exceptional member service which include recruitment and retention strategies to increase membership such as programs, special initiatives, and new policies.
Jaques has been a member of IES, and part of the lighting community, for over 20 years. In 2000, she founded Lighting Application Sciences, LLC to provide lighting manufacturers, sales representatives, and others access to high-quality photometric calculation and rendering services. Jaques has been an IES member of the Austin, Texas, section since 1995. She has served as the Section President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Education Chair, and adviser to its Board of Managers.
In addition, Jaques has had the privilege of serving as District 4 Chair and Vice-Chair, supporting the sections of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, then was nominated and elected to serve two terms as South Regional Director, serving on the IES Board of directors. She chaired the 2014 Regional Conference LightFOCUS, with a committee composed of section leaders. Jaques served as Chair and Advisor to the IES Annual Conference Steering Committee and was awarded the IES Presidential Award in 2013 and 2018. Jennifer served on the IES board as VP/President-elect during the 2018-2019 program year, and as President during the 2019-2020 program year.
“The opportunity to join the Illuminating Engineering Society as Director of Membership fills me with a deep sense of responsibility to the members and dedicated volunteers of the Society, the lighting industry, IES Board of Directors, and staff,” said Jaques. “Our industry and world is rapidly changing. I intend to be the spark that ignites excitement, participation, growth and innovation about the lighting industry among those who know the IES and our industry, and those who don’t yet know the knowledge, wisdom, and impact our industry, and our Society, can bring to the world.”
“I have had the pleasure of working with Jennifer in her various roles as a volunteer on the IES Board of Directors,” said Tim Licitra, IES Executive Director, “and I now have the privilege of working with her in a much closer capacity as part of our membership team. The future of the IES is bright, and I am very excited for what is to come with Jennifer as our newest addition.”
