ARLINGTON, Vir. — The Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) have made the difficult decision to cancel SPARK: The Electrician’s Expo, scheduled for October 14-16, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Milton.
“Our top priority has always been the well-being of our community. After carefully monitoring the storm’s trajectory and consulting with experts, we believe canceling the event is the most responsible decision for everyone involved,” says Thayer Long, IEC Executive Director.
Following extensive discussions with the City of Tampa, local weather authorities, and convention facility representatives, IEC prioritized the safety of its attendees, exhibitors, speakers, staff, and the wider Florida community. With Hurricane Milton projected to severely affect the region, it became clear that the risks were too great to move forward with the event.
IEC extends gratitude to all SPARK participants for their understanding and encourages everyone to stay safe during the storm.
