A roundup of the latest efforts of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC):
Endorses IgCC: The USGBC, which created the LEED green building certification system and is involved in other efforts (such as ASHRAE Standard 189.1), endorsed the International Green Construction Code (IgCC).
Green Classroom Professional certification created: The USGBC has an offshoot, the Center for Green Schools. It now offers the Green Classroom Professional Certificate for teachers, administrators and even parents. The National Education Association has endorsed the program.
Pilot credit library expanded: There are now 36 items in the LEED Pilot Credit Library, “exploring everything from the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of building assemblies to bird collision deterrence,” the USGBC said.
The Home Depot & LEED for Homes: More than 2,500 products sold at The Home Depot are listed on LEEDHomeDepot.com, a microsite created by the USGBC and the big-box DIY retailer.
12,000th commercial project: The USGBC said LEED has certified its 12,000th commercial project, some 12 year after the first dozen were so honored.
