Work on the boards sustains 4-month upward move

For the fourth straight month, the Architecture Billings Index (also know as the “work on the boards” survey) offered positive tidings on the state of nonresidential construction in the nine- to 12-month future.

Compiled and reported by the American Institute of Architects, the February flash report showed an overall reading of 51.0, up from 50.9 in January.

The report also included the highest new projects inquiry reading (63.4) since July 2007. Another important fact from the February flash report—Midwest respondents produced the highest (56.0) ABI reading, while those in the West remain (45.6) in a contraction.
