WEST CHESTER, Penn. — Omni Cable, headquartered in West Chester, PA, is proud to announce that its employee-owners raised $1,237.50 for the Movember Foundation in November.
The Movember Foundation is a global organization that raises awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health issues. To promote the cause, the organization challenges men to grow mustaches during November. There are opportunities for women to get involved with the cause as well.
During the month of November, Omni Cable employees raised $825 for the cause. The Omni Cable Foundation matched half of the money that employees raised. The Omni Cable Foundation received funding from Omni Cable Corporation in order to appropriately handle charitable requests that the organization receives.
This is the second year that Omni Cable has participated in Movember. “It was a lot of fun getting my fellow co-workers to join the cause as a team,” said Steve Maxwell, Omni Cable PA Account Manager and the captain of the company’s Movember team.
The Movember movement hit home for Maxwell who has had family members affected by prostate cancer. “Because of testing, the doctors were able to catch my father’s cancer in time and remove it,” said Maxwell. “My grandfather also had prostate cancer but it was not caught in time and he passed away from the disease. This was before the push for prostate cancer awareness,” he added.
Like Maxwell, Mattie Siegfried, Omni Cable’s Real Estate Manager, has had a number of family members and friends who have been affected by cancer. “This was my first year participating in the Movember campaign,” said Siegfried. “Every year, I support all of the women in my life who have been affected by breast cancer by donating, so when I found out about Omni Cable’s Movember team, I thought it was about time for me to show some support for the guys!,” she added.
