ZURICH, Switzerland — ABB has appointed communications professional Saswato Das as head of its Business Media Relations team focusing on financial and business topics, effective June 1, 2016.
Das joins ABB from CA Technologies, a global software company, where he was Vice President of Corporate Communications. Prior to taking that position in January 2015, he was at SAP in New York for nine years in roles including Director of Global Communications, and Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs with responsibility for SAP’s thought leadership content as well as global media relations. He has also held media relations roles at Infineon Technologies in New York and Lucent Technologies.
“Saswato’s vast competence and knowledge of the software industry will help ABB to establish a stronger public profile corresponding to our role as leaders in the Internet of Things, Services and People,” said Christoph Sieder, Head of ABB Group Corporate Communications. “I am delighted to have Saswato on board to lead the transformation of our media relations competences around the world and expand our global reach on core topics.”
“He will be based in the United States to help strengthen public awareness and understanding of ABB in what has become our largest market following investments of more than $10 billion since 2010,” he added.
Das, a US national with degrees in Astrophysics and Physics, succeeds Michael Schiendorfer who is leaving ABB to pursue other opportunities outside the company.
