Affiliated Distributors has announced Ed Crawford as the new President US Electrical Division and International Development. Crawford joins AD with over 20 years’ experience in the electrical industry. Most recently, Crawford held the position of General Manager and Sr. Vice President of the Professional Channel for Philips Lighting Americas which drove integrated lighting solutions in the professional channel, with advanced, energy-efficient LED lighting technologies.
Crawford began his Philips career in 1988 at the company’s Norelco division, where he served as Director of Marketing for Home Products. He joined Philips Lighting in 1993 and proceeded to hold successive high-level commercial positions including Vice President of Strategic Marketing North America and General Manager of Philips Lighting Canada. Crawford also served as CEO, Philips Light Sources and Electronics North America, responsible for all commercial activities for Philips Lamp and Ballast business in both the Retail and Professional channels.
During his tenure with Philips, Crawford championed innovations such as Philips ALTO low mercury fluorescent technology, the award-winning L Prize LED bulb and the world’s first commercially viable 60-watt LED equivalent, as well as ensuring one of the broadest portfolios of Energy Star qualified LED retrofit lamps. In addition, Crawford was instrumental in working with partners to help drive down the cost of LED technologies, ensuring that these sustainable products are also affordable for consumers, helping to further drive adoption. As one of the leading experts on sustainable lighting solutions, Crawford has been a featured speaker at many industry forums, including the National Association of Electrical Distributors, the Northwest Public Power Association Annual Meeting and The Electro-Federation Conference on Sustainability, in Toronto, Canada. In addition, he has been a frequent expert contributor on the “LED Lighting revolution”, having been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today, as well as appearing on Fox Business, Bloomberg, and CBS Sunday Morning.
Crawford is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Aeronautical Science and holds an MBA in Marketing and International Business from New York University.
