AP: $25K Reward Offered In Power Grid Attack Investigation

CABOT, Ark. (AP) — Federal investigators fear two recent attacks on the electrical grid in Lonoke County could be related to an attempt in August to pull down a tower carrying high-voltage power lines.

The FBI said Monday the three incidents could be linked and asked the public for any information it may have, no matter how small.

Two power poles were felled Sunday, Oct. 6. On Sept. 29, someone set a fire that destroyed a control station near Keo. Also, someone scratched “YOU SHOULD HAVE EXPECTED U.S.” onto a metal box outside the substation.

On Aug. 21, a high-voltage line was felled at Cabot. The FBI said then it appeared someone tried to hook a cable onto a passing freight train in an effort to bring down the whole tower.
