In the exclusive tED magazine/Baird research for the 2025’s third-quarter, revenue growth remains strong in both the electrical and Datacomm sectors.
For the three month period from July through September, revenue on the electrical side grew 3.8% over the same period one year ago, while revenue is up 10.8% in Datacomm. The researchers at Baird received 18 responses to the quarterly survey from distributors who add up to more than $7 billion in yearly revenue.

The results show the 6th straight quarter for revenue growth in Datacomm, dating back to the second quarter of 2024, and the fifth straight quarterly gain for electrical.

Respondents are expecting continued growth in both sectors for the fourth quarter of 2025, which expectations of a 5.8% growth in electrical for the quarter and 6.6% growth in Datacomm. In comparison to other distribution industries, electrical was slightly below the 4.2% growth nationally, with Datacomm remains one of the strongest distributor product line for the second consecutive quarter.

Responses from the people who took the survey include:
- “Strong construction growth primarily tied to data centers.”
- “Revenue appears steady, however, we have had some challenges securing inventory in a timely fashion.”
- “Electric utility was off high 20%’s – consistent with 2Q 2025.”
- “If you are doing business with customers that have projects right now, you’re doing well. If you’re not connected to those customers, the day-to-day business is pretty slow.”
