CES Opens New Branch in Untapped Market

CES Opens New Branch in Untapped Market

BARTLETT, Tenn. — Located just northeast of Memphis, Bartlett is a growing suburb with opportunities in both the residential and commercial markets. As a fast-growing town in the heart of Shelby County, Bartlett is an extension of the Memphis metropolitan network and will help provide service to City Electric Supply customers in this rapidly growing area.

Regional Manager Travis Williams is excited about the potential of the Bartlett branch as the next-closest CES branch in Tennessee is nearly three hours away in Nashville.

“We chose Bartlett because of the location. It’s a new market for City Electric Supply that will bring limitless potential for new growth,” Williams said.

Since opening in March, Williams has big hopes for the branch and the new branch manager, Derrick Pennington, after a very successful launch.

“Derrick has been nothing but successful since the branch opened last month,” Williams said. “The full potential of this branch is still untapped.”

Pennington joined the CES team in November when Williams reached out to see if he would be interested in working for CES as a branch manager. Pennington began his career in 1996 as a warehouse worker for GexPro/GE. He soon worked his way up to an outside sales representative position, which he held for 10 years. With more than 20 years of knowledge in the market, Pennington will be a huge asset to the CES team.

Some branch locations require quite a bit of work to renovate the showrooms and warehouse space to meet CES standards. However, luckily for Pennington and his team, the branch didn’t need much work to get up and running. The location held another electrical distributor for over 20 years before City Electric Supply moved in, which helped keep the renovations to a minimum.

“As Travis says, all we had to do was put on the lipstick,” Pennington joked.

What excites Pennington the most about coming to work for City Electric Supply is the customers. Establishing a connection with them and building relationships through all the various projects is a huge plus for someone who has worked on both sides of the counter.

“I simply enjoy being a partner to our customers,” Pennington said.
