Cooper Lighting Solutions Certified ‘Make It American’ by NEMA

ARLINGTON, Vir. – The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that Cooper Lighting Solutions has become the first lighting manufacturer certified under NEMA’s Make It American™ program, extending the domestic content certification program into a major category of federally funded infrastructure and construction.

“Cooper Lighting Solutions’ certification is a major milestone for Make It American and for the U.S. lighting industry,” said NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips. “Lighting is fundamental to modern infrastructure, from schools and hospitals to transportation systems and federal buildings. With this certification, Cooper Lighting Solutions is demonstrating its commitment to U.S. manufacturing and answering the surging demand for American-made products with the transparency and accountability that domestic content compliance requires.”

Cooper Lighting Solutions earned certification of its Americus, Ga., facility under the NEMA Make It American Process Standard for facilities. The company manufactures residential, commercial, industrial, sports, and infrastructure lighting and controls. The certification gives contractors, government agencies, and procurement officials a new lighting-sector resource as they work to meet domestic requirements under the bipartisan Build America, Buy America Act.

The announcement comes as Make It American continues to earn recognition from policymakers and federal agencies. U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann (R-KS) recently introduced the Build American Efficiency Act, which recognizes Make It American as a pathway for domestic content compliance in federally funded housing projects. The legislation follows the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s October 2025 validation of the Make It American program as an official industry resource.

“Cooper Lighting Solutions is proud to be the first lighting manufacturer to earn certification through the NEMA Make It American™ program because of our Americus, Ga., manufacturing facility’s commitment to meeting the domestic content requirements of the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act,” said Cooper Lighting President Kraig Kasler. “This facility has been operating for 60 years, demonstrating our commitment to U.S. manufacturing. We remain dedicated to delivering high-quality, compliant solutions that help our customers meet their project goals with confidence.”

Cooper Lighting Solutions becomes the 12th company with at least one Make It American-certified facility listed on the NEMA Make It American™ BABA Registry, a public resource for contractors, government agencies, and procurement officials seeking manufacturers that can support Build America, Buy America compliance.
