SALT LAKE CITY – DDS (Distributor Data Solutions), an e-commerce product content provider serving the electrical distribution industry, has launched an online product catalog solution for manufacturer’s representatives called RDX, or the Rep Data Exchange.
RDX offers rep agencies a dedicated web catalog, populated only with the lines they carry and featuring complete product information sourced directly from their manufacturers.
RDX enables reps to further support the marketing, sales and customer service efforts of their manufacturers and distributors by providing a local, online resource for product content that is critical to contractors, end users, specifiers, and distributor staff as they research and source material.
Additionally, according to feedback from reps who helped design RDX, this service can help improve their staff’s productivity and make searching for manufacturer product and spec sheets easier, with everything accessible from one online source.
Its flagship feature, RDX’s comprehensive product content includes images, spec sheets, videos, application information, and other supplemental materials manufacturers make available to help market and sell their products. This consolidated content is sourced directly by DDS from more than 375 manufacturers, with additional lines and products being added on a weekly basis.
RDX web catalogs are branded to each agency and are unique to each organization based upon the lines they represent. RDX sites emphasize a powerful search engine, as well as the ability for visitors to develop a Request for Quote they can send directly to the rep. (To see an example, visit the RDX Sales Demo Catalog at https://rdx-demo.repdataexchange.com).
RDX catalog sites can be up and running within 30 days. Another key feature of RDX, as with all DDS’ offerings, is regular maintenance of product content to ensure that users receive up-to-date and accurate information.
Developed by veterans of the electrical distribution industry, RDX is the latest offering from DDS in its mission to provide “next-generation” product content and related solutions to help companies deliver an exceptional online experience to their customers.
“In working closely with distributors and manufacturers to develop world-class solutions for e-commerce-ready product content and data management,” says Matt Christensen, DDS’ vice president, “we saw a complementary opportunity to help reps better serve their distributors, improve the productivity of their staff and provide resources to their end-user customers that can also serve as a demand generator.”
