Dodge Data & Analytics started providing an interactive map displaying the number of public bidding opportunities available through the COVID-19 crisis. The map is updated weekly, with Dodge reporting more than 17,000 public construction project currently out for bidding.
Dodge reports the COVID-19 situation is impacting our daily lives, and “The full economic effect still remains largely unknown, but one thing is for certain – it won’t be business as usual for the construction industry in the coming weeks.”
However, the current construction bidding update shows 4,200 new bidding opportunities have been added to the Dodge database, something Dodge describes as “good news since it indicates that across the U.S. many public entities are still moving forward and finding ways to safely manage bidding, virtually and in other ways that prevent the further spread of coronavirus.”
The states with the most bidding opportunities are California, Texas, and Pennsylvania, which is interesting since Governor Tom Wolf declared commercial and residential construction as “non-essential” in mid-March.
