In a social media post, Molly Murphy, Eaton’s Senior Vice-President of North American Sales, announced her retirement after a 30-year career. In a press release, Eaton says Murphy will remain with the company until early July.
“Molly’s leadership has shaped a generation of Eaton talent and strengthened our customer relationships around the world,” said Mike Yelton, Eaton’s President of the Electrical Sector, said in the release. “Her passion for developing people and building successful teams will leave a lasting legacy.”
Murphy joined Eaton in 1997 and has held numerous leadership roles across sales, marketing and channel operations. Since 2018, she has led North American sales for Eaton’s electrical business, spanning industrial, original equipment manufacturer (OEM), utility, commercial, data center, service and general sales teams.
NAED named Murphy the 2019 Trailblazer Award winner, recognizing Murphy as a person who is “driven to improve an industry that helps drive the world”.
“The best part of this industry, by far and away from my perspective, is the people,” Murphy told tED magazine after she earned the Trailblazer Award in 2019. “And when you look at the industry, it’s a critical component of how we build our world: how we build infrastructure, how we invent, how we push forward into sustainability. Our industry helps drive all these things, and there are some phenomenal people in this industry who care about the companies they run, about the people who work there, and who want to be a part of making things better and driving change. It’s an exciting place to be.”
In her social media post, Murphy says her career provided immense gratitude and thanked early mentors and lifelong colleagues and friends for shaping her career path. Murphy reminded her followers that “Together, we navigated challenges, celebrated wins, and built something truly special.”
“When I look at what made me successful, much of it was due to the people around me who helped me,” Murphy told tED magazine. “And it’s because of the time I spent building both internal and external friendships – not just networks, but friendships – with people I trusted. You can’t make that up.”
