Electric Association of Chicago Releases Survey Results

The Electric Association of Chicago conducted a new survey last week with encouraging results.

The survey showed all 157 companies that responded are still operating, and 110 of the 157 respondents are operating at better than 75% capacity. The survey revealed 41% of the responding companies are still working at 100% capacity, and only 13% were less than 50% operational.

But, there are definitely some changes. The Electric Association of Chicago survey found 90% of the companies that responded have employees working remotely, with 71% saying most or all of their employees are currently working from home.

The survey included responses from electrical contractors in the Chicago area, where 65% of the responding contractors say they are working at 50% capacity or better. But, 22% of the contractors say they business is down by at least three-quarters right now.

Chicago area electrical distributors remain busy. The results of the Electric Association of Chicago survey show 87% of the distributors who answered the survey are working at nearly full capacity. Just 4% say they are below half capacity right now.

Electrical manufacturers in the Chicago area are telling a similar story. More than 90% says they are more than 75% operational, and just 6% say they are working at less than 50% capacity.

Responding companies also said they are taking actions as a result of COVID-19, including making sure employees have personal protection equipment, temperature checks for employees, increased cleaning and sanitizing, limiting or suspending contact with supply partners, customers and other employees, and transitioning to virtual software for meetings and training.
