Henry D. McDowell died on June 10, 2012 at the age of 93.
McDowell was the president and CEO of Flato Electric Supply in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1960-1999.
He started in the business in 1946 at G.E. supply in Houston after serving in World War II in the Navy.
Flato Electric Supply was a major supplier of commercial, residential and utility supplies for the South Texas area.
McDowell was responsible for several items used by the utility provider in the area. He designed and built the prototypes in his garage, got them approved by the engineers at the utility and then sent them to a manufacturer for production.
McDowell is survived by his wife Delorice, his son Charles D. McDowell and two grandchildren.
