Former chairman of the board for Maurice Electrical Supply dies

Marvin Kogod has died. He was 88 years old and was preceded in death by his wife Muriel.

Kogod joined the family business at Maurice Electrical Supply in 1951; he focused on the lighting side of the business.

Kogod quickly realized that to succeed with larger contractors, he would need to develop a commercial department, a decision that would propel Maurice into the leadership among electrical supply houses in Washington, DC. Maurice became one of the largest full line wholesalers on the East Coast.

Kogod retired in 1994. At the time of his retirement, Kogod was chairman of the board. His sons Bruce and Mark continued to run the family business until it was sold to US Electrical Services, Inc. in 2008. His grandson Jack Kogod works in the commercial lighting department at Maurice that Kogod started.

Further details and arrangements will be posted on the Maurice Electrical Supply website, www.mauriceelectric.com.
