PARIS, France — GE announced that Azeez Mohammed has been appointed President & CEO of GE Energy Connections’ Power Conversion business, effective July 11, 2016.
Mohammed comes to Power Conversion from his most recent role as President and CEO of GE’s Power Services business for the Middle East and Africa. He was instrumental in leading GE’s digital transformation, helping to position the organization as the world’s foremost digital-industrial company by launching innovative customer solutions in the power and LNG sectors. Today, he brings that experience to the Power Conversion business where he will lead the company to reinforce its digital capacity while bringing a new focus on research and development, increasing the company’s ability to provide innovative solutions to customers for electrifying tomorrow’s energy.
A seasoned leader with a strong technological background, Mohammed has held a series of roles in engineering, finance and business management in GE Power and GE Corporate worldwide. His other business management engagements include leadership positions in Latin America and the Saudi & Gulf regions. He holds master and doctorate degrees from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, all in Mechanical Engineering.
Responsible for continuing to build the Power Conversion business, which drives the electric transformation of the world’s energy infrastructure across multiple industries, Mohammed will notably strengthen the capacity of Power Conversion’s service network, especially in emerging markets. Power Conversion is electrifying tomorrow’s energy with efficient advanced motor, drive, and control technologies, allowing customers to evolve their industrial processes for a cleaner, more productive future.
