GE’s Marcelo Valdes to Chair IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop

PLAINVILLE, Conn. — The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Industrial Applications Society has named Marcelo Valdes, PE and Applications and Innovations leader for GE Industrial Solutions’ Power Components Business Unit, as the chair for the 21st annual Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW).

 

A premier forum for accelerating advancements in workplace electrical safety, this year’s conference will be held February 4 – 7 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, Calif. The program features tutorials, more than 25 technical presentations and an exposition of the latest in equipment, products and services.

 

Valdes has authored and presented more than 30 papers at IEEE conferences in the U.S., Canada and South America, many of which have won industry awards and been published in industry magazines in the U.S. and Brazil.  He served as vice chair of the IEEE ESW in 2012 and 2013.  Additionally, he is a representative with the IEEE committee that directs the IEEE votes on National Electrical Code panels and is also a representative on the National Electrical Code (NEC) code panel for the National Electrical Manufacturers Associations (NEMA). He was also recently appointed as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer for 2014-2015.
