Last week, Grainger released its monthly sales report. It showed an 18% rise in February 2011. In the United States, “daily sales” rose 12%.
Grainger said as many as 300,000 of its customers buy products online. The company is preparing for that number to go from 25% to 40%. According to report from InternetRetailer.com, customers can now “view real-time updates of inventory available in distribution centers or local [branches]” through Grainger.com or its mobile website.
Of 400,000 products offered by Grainger, according to Sustainable Plant, 14,000 products from 75 suppliers “are certified by third-party criteria as ‘green.'” The article includes information on a workshop in which John Baldzicki, sustainability consulting manager, explained how Grainger has facilitated sustainability management discussions and decisions at customer companies.
