Grainger today reported that its daily sales for October increased 6% compared to October 2011. These figures include four percentage points from price, one percentage point from volume and one percentage point from sales of hurricane-related products.
The month of October 2012 had 23 selling days versus 21 selling days in October 2011. While the 2012 fourth quarter will have one extra selling day versus the 2011 fourth quarter (64 versus 63 days), Grainger is forecasting minimal sales contribution due to timing of the holidays.
The company reported that daily sales in the U.S. increased 4% for October while sales increased 16% in Canada and 12% in its other businesses in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
