ARLINGTON, VA — the Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA), in collaboration with Avalon CSC, today announced that its Volumetrics initiative has measured and cataloged weight and dimensions data for more than 50,000 high-velocity SKUs across 500+ manufacturers, marking a significant milestone in the electrical industry’s efforts to build the most comprehensive repository of reliable cubic dimensions data.
The growing Volumetrics database provides distributors and manufacturers with automated access to precise dimensional data captured using Cubiscan 325 technology, measured across every unit of measure. This standardized data is seamlessly integrated with and available through the IDEA Connector℠ data management platform. With it, you can calculate shipping costs accurately, optimize warehouse operations, place items faster, improve capacity planning, and design more effective automation systems.
“This milestone represents the collective effort of the electrical industry to establish data standards that benefit the entire supply chain,” said Patrick Knight, President and CEO of IDEA. “As warehouse automation becomes increasingly essential, the need for accurate dimensional data has never been greater.”
