IDEAL Companies Hosts 24th Annual Golf Tournament

IDEAL Companies Hosts 24th Annual Golf Tournament

Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation recently hosted the Ideal Companies 24th Annual Golf Tournament and awarded $25,000 in scholarships to deserving local high school seniors. Students from McKinley Tech High School, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, St Johns High School, and National Collegiate Prep Public Charter School were selected to receive scholarships this year.

As the cost of tuition continues to rise, the Ideal Companies Scholarship has become even more valuable. According to the College Board’s Trends in College Pricing (2018), as college costs continue to rise at 5% a year, the annual cost will be $35,672 (up from $33,973 last year).

The total cost for 4 year(s) will then be $153,749. Through support and donations, Ideal hopes to alleviate some of the financial burdens that students undergo so they are able to better focus on their education. For the past twenty-three years, the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., has been assisting local high school students in achieving their higher academic goals.

Through the Ideal Companies Annual Golf Tournament, funds are raised to provide college scholarships to less fortunate students. Since its inception, the Fund has provided more than $355,000 in scholarships to deserving youths.

On June 11, 2018, more than 100 golfers and volunteers attended the tournament at the Belle Haven Country Club, located in Alexandria, Vir.

The golf event followed the scramble format and featured putting, closest-to-the-pin, longest drive and hole-in-one contests. A silent auction was also provided. The proceeds of all auction items, i.e. professional sporting tickets, fine dining, original artwork and sports artifacts, benefitted the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund.

Belle Haven welcomed representatives from PEPCO, BGE, Burndy, Ulliman Schutte, Washington Gas, City First Bank, Delmarva Power, Clark Construction, and many other businesses to enjoy a “day on the green.”  The weather was mild, and the event was fun-filled. The day began with a delicious cookout-style lunch and the evening concluded with a scrumptious buffet that the Belle Haven staff so eloquently provided.

The Belle Haven Country Club has been in the community since the 1920s and has grown with Alexandria throughout the 20th century. Today, Belle Haven is well-known for its 18-hole golf course designed by renowned architect Arthur Hills.

This event was a wonderful example of the business sector using its influence to foster change, make a difference, and give back to the community.

The Metropolitan Washington community, including several local businesses and organizations, has greatly supported the efforts of the Ideal Companies Scholarship Fund to provide generous scholarships to its recipients.

Donations and sponsorships are necessary for this annual event to continue the success of The Scholarship Fund
