IECRM Celebrates Big Wins Upon Returning from IEC National Convention

DENVER, Colorado—Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM) (www.iecrm.org) is celebrating once again – this time after their recent return from the IEC National Convention in Baltimore, Maryland.  Among the many reasons for celebration is the fact that the Rocky Mountain region’s own IECRM brought back the award for IEC’s National Chapter of the Year!

IEC Rocky Mountain representatives Spenser Villwock, CEO, Kristin Kim Haynes, COO, and Paul Lingo, Training Director, receive their well deserved “IEC Chapter of the Year” award.

Aside from this big win for the region, several members of the IECRM family flew home with suitcases being weighed down by new awards as well.  Pete Farreny, of Weifield Group Contracting (www.weifieldcontracting.com), accepted an “Excellence in Electrical Construction” award on behalf of the Weifield Group.  Janet Martin, of Bret’s Electric (www.bretselectric.com), received the coveted and well deserved “IEC National Member of the Year” award for all of her outstanding and appreciated volunteer work completed with IECRM.  Fellow IECRM member Jim Schoenfelder and 1st Electric Contractors, Inc. (www.1stelectric.net) took home the “Excellence in Electrical Construction” award. And, the IECRM Veteran’s Initiative, led by Kristin Kim Haynes, IECRM COO, brought home a “Community Service” award for their contributions and efforts to transition our nation’s veterans into a career in the energy and construction industry.

The convention provided IECRM professionals a chance to network, reconnect, and begin forging future business plans for the IEC National community.  According to Spenser Villwock, IECRM CEO, “The national network of IEC is reaching the pinnacle of its 57 years of success leading the industry. Over 2,200 professionals from across the country converged in Baltimore to celebrate our recent industry achievements in late October. Expert speakers provided critical and timely information on a host of topics relevant to the inner workings of the 3,000 businesses that we represent. All who attended walked away enlightened, assured, and directed for the next steps to take in their careers and to elevate their businesses”.

A very special acknowledgement to our apprentice, Chris Kocer of Interstates Construction Services, who won 1st place at the 2014 IECRM Wire-Off competition, for competing at the national level against IEC apprentices coming from over 20 different chapters. Many thanks go out to all of the IECRM members who made the trip to Baltimore to attend this year’s convention, including Legrand (www.legrand.us), LEI Companies, Inc. (www.leicompanies.com), and Northern Electric, Inc. (www.northernelec.com).  The Rocky Mountain chapter of IEC has surely made an impression this year and aims to create an even larger spark during next year’s IEC National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
