nVent is excited to announce that ILSCO (an ECM brand, acquired by nVent in May) recently obtained UL Service Rating approval for its insulated connector products, NIMBUS 250 and ClearTap 250. This is the first UL Service Rating (UL 486A-B, Annex H for ANSI C119.60) that any insulated connectors manufacturer has received in the industry meeting the NEC 230.46 requirement, which went into effect on January 1, 2023 in the 2020 National Electrical Code® (NEC®). This requirement addresses the use of pressure connectors and devices for splices and taps installed on service conductors, and UL 486A-B Annex H is the required test standard for this new NEC requirement.

ILSCO’s NIMBUS and ClearTap 250 connectors are Service Rated for 3 to 14 ports using aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 6 AWG to 250 kcmil. This is the first multi-port connector to be certified to ASNI C119.6 by UL and compliant to NEC 230.46 – suitable for use on the line side of service equipment.
