Industry Veteran Passes Away at 83

Thomas Anthony Geis (Tom) passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017 at the age of 83.

Tom moved to Phoenix in 1949 where his father, Walter Geis, believed they could play golf 365 days a year. Tom was a passionate golfer, always carried a low handicap, and had 8 holes in one.

Tom was also a passionate business man and, after graduating from ASU in 1956, he worked for a local utility as an engineer. This was his introduction to the electrical industry, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Married in 1954 to the love of his life, Beverly, together they founded Geis Sales, Inc. as an independent manufacturers representative. Together they grew Geis Sales to be one of the largest and most respected sales agencies in Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada.

Thinking it was time to take it easy and play more golf, Tom sold his agency in 1997. However, it didn’t take long for him to realize that staying home was not for him. To stay involved, he went to work in electrical distribution and eventually returned to the agency business, where he spent almost 10 years until his passing. Tom was active in the the Electric League of Arizona, NAED, NECA, IECA, and was a member of NEMRA.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, and three daughters: Kimberly Geis, Jennifer Mattingly, husband George and Tamara Swanson, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

His obituary can be found here.
