JACKSON, Miss. — Irby, a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. Irby was founded in 1926 by Stuart C. Irby in Jackson, Miss. Acquired by Sonepar in 2005, Irby is still headquartered in Jackson, with 65 locations in 25 states.
The anniversary celebration kicked-off with a Vendor Expo/Counter Day where 33 of Irby’s top sponsoring vendors were represented. Each vendor displayed its newest products while visiting with customers as they arrived for a catered lunch and door prizes that included Yeti coolers, gift cards, tools and more.
Irby also celebrated its loyal employees by providing every Irby employee company-wide with commemorative gifts and a t-shirt displaying the special 90th anniversary logo.
The evening concluded at a local hotspot, Cathead Distillery, where customers, vendors and employees enjoyed dinner, dancing, and plenty of fun! As guests entered the facility, they were greeted with large screens that displayed the company’s pictorial history. The panorama displayed pictures from 1926 to 2016.
Newly appointed Irby President, Mike Leech said, “This day was a way to celebrate and thank the many who have made our success possible. I look forward to what the coming years have in store.”
