Irby Donates to Salvation Army After Fire Destroys Facility

Jackson, MS (March 19, 2014) — Irby, a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, has taken on numerous charities during its 88 years in business. One of its long time charities, the Jackson Salvation Army, was recently destroyed by fire. Many in the Jackson community relied on this store to get clothes, furniture, appliances, etc. Irby encouraged employees to make a contribution of any size to help restock the new facility. “Bring your change, cash, checks or donated items and be a part of what Irby is doing to give back to our community,” said Mike Wigton, Irby President/CEO.

A Salvation Army Red Kettle, one of the only two that were not destroyed in the recent fire, was placed in the atrium of Irby’s corporate facility for one week. This offered employees, customers and visitors a convenient, easy way to contribute and raised over $1000.00 for the Salvation Army. To help with the delivery of non-monetary items, Irby placed a trailer in the corporate parking lot where items could be dropped off and then delivered to the Salvation Army. In addition to their employees, Irby Corporate also made a sizeable donation.

Irby was founded in 1926 and is based in Jackson, Mississippi. The company has 58 locations in 21 states. The employees of Irby serve customers with innovative products and services in four major market segments – industrial, contractor, commercial and utility. To find out more, go to www.irby.com.
