Legrand Lighting Systems Receives Two Awards

WEST HARTFORD, CT – September 24, 2013 – Legrand has been recognized as a winner in the prestigious, eleventh annual Lighting for Tomorrow competition for its adorne Under-Cabinet Lighting System. In addition to taking the honor in the LED Indoor Fixture category, the lighting solution also earned an Innovation Award for demonstrating excellence in overall functionality and design.

The American Lighting Association (ALA), the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CCE), and Underwriters Laboratories, LLC (UL), co-sponsor Lighting for Tomorrow, which honors the best-designed, energy-efficient lighting products in the residential market. The awards were announced at the ALA Annual Conference in Austin, Texas on September 24.

“We are thrilled to receive this industry distinction, which is further validated by the Innovation Award that spotlights the Under-Cabinet Lighting System’s category leadership,” said Mario Gonzalez, vice president of marketing for Legrand. “Not only praised for its intelligent lighting attributes, our ‘under-cabinet over-achiever’ continues to exceed expectations for its holistic approach to design and providing convenience to its user.”

The adorne Under-Cabinet Lighting is a modular track system that fits under the kitchen cabinets to discreetly deliver light, power, and music to the space. Equally impressive, its “hidden from view” location enables the backsplash area to be clear of outlets and cord clutter—yielding a blank canvas for attractive tile designs. Customizable with modular LED puck or linear lights, the system additionally offers power outlets, USB charging ports, a Bluetooth music system, and mobile charging cradles.

The system took the win against 70 competitor entries. Judging criteria included light color appearance, light color rendering, appropriate illuminance, application efficiency, value and marketability, and aesthetic appearance and style. The jury noted, “Older homes could particularly benefit from the combined features of safety, sound, illumination, control, and charging. The product is very flexible, customizable, aesthetically pleasing, and provides great light quality as well.”
