Chicago, IL (PRWEB) – Lightficient has announced it recently introduced Light Emitting Plasma (LEP) technology through its installation at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago, improving the organization’s outdoor lighting quality while reducing costs, boosting energy efficiency and increasing safety. LEP technology is a new patented lighting technology that is an energy-efficient, low-maintenance, high-lumen lighting solution ideal for illuminating roadways, parking areas, manufacturing facilities and warehouses. Lightficient is the exclusive distributor of LEP technology in Illinois.
“We are excited to deliver this new, innovative lighting solution to Illinois businesses and municipalities looking to improve efficiencies and operate in an environmentally responsible way,” said Paul Burke, president at Lightficient. “With light intensity 200 times that of conventional LED from a bulb literally the size of a Tic Tac, LEP technology is a critical advancement toward energy efficiency.”
Lightficient recently demonstrated the effectiveness of its LEP technology when it replaced the metal halide lights in the parking area at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago. Lightficient reduced the number of lights in the three parking lots, accommodating approximately 100 cars, from 28 metal halide fixtures, to 16 of the P400 LEP fixtures, all installed into the existing light poles.
“With the reduction in number of fixtures, and the fact that each fixture uses less electricity, Mercy Home has cut its energy bill for outdoor lighting by more than 50 percent,” said Burke. “And if the savings alone were not enough incentive to switch to LEP, the light quality and longetivity has been greatly increased.”
Rev. L. Scott Donahue, president, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, noted, “Providing the 134 at-risk young people in our care with safety and support 24 hours a day, year round, is an enormous undertaking. The reliability of Lightficient’s lighting, as well as the long-term savings on energy and maintenance costs, will help us allocate more of our resources to the ultimate benefit of Mercy Home’s children.”
What distinguishes LEP lighting from high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting found in many parking lots and warehouses, as well as light-emitting diode (LED) lighting often used along roadways, is that LEP technology uses less energy, is comprised of fewer materials and is more durable, all while providing higher outputs of light closely resembling natural light.
LEP lighting can be installed new or retrofitted to existing lighting sources. “The cost to retrofit existing lighting sources with the LEP lighting is surprisingly inexpensive, allowing business owners and property managers to realize a return on their investment within two years,” said Burke.
Lightficient distributes LEP lighting solutions throughout the midwest, and is the exclusive distributor in Illinois. The firm has established relationships with several lenders specializing in lighting upgrades that are willing to loan up to 100% of the up-front cost of the upgrades.
