MaxLite Completes Weeklong Building Blitz with Habitat for Humanity

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. — MaxLite teamed with Habitat for Humanity to build homes and hope in partnership with nearly 200 low-income families during Habitat for Humanity’s annual Home Builders Blitz, June 8-12.

The 2015 blitz began in Sanford, Florida and included build sites in Winston Salem, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee and Omaha, Nebraska. MaxLite contributed more than 20,000 LED and CFL lamps and luminaires in helping Habitat for Humanity build homes with families in need of decent, affordable housing. The non-profit organization recruited and partnered with local professional builders, who in turn provided labor, funding and materials while coordinating the project through its completion. The 2015 event was the fifth national Home Builders Blitz hosted by Habitat for Humanity. Since its inception in 2006, the program has built, renovated, or repaired nearly 1600 homes.

“MaxLite is proud to have been part of this successful week of building, and to support the important work done by Habitat for Humanity to improve the lives of families in need of affordable housing,” said MaxLite Director of Marketing Donille Perrone. “Watching the builders, renovators, subcontractors and suppliers come together in this endeavor was inspiring, and knowing that our products are helping to light up the homes and lives of the new owners is an amazing feeling.”

MaxLite has partnered with Habitat for Humanity since 2012, donating lamps and lighting fixtures to be used in the Home Builders Blitz and sold through Habitat ReStore resale outlets. ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell goods at a fraction of the retail price, helping local Habitat affiliates fund the construction of homes within their communities. MaxLite works with utilities and their energy-saving rebate programs across the country to provide additional discounts on lighting products for ReStores. MaxLite products are currently sold at 130 ReStores nationwide.
