Mayer adds to leadership team

Alabama-based Mayer Electric Supply recently added three associates to help build sales and market share in the industrial, commercial and institutional customer market segments.

“We¹re not a niche player in the wholesale-distribution business, stated Wes Smith, Mayer¹s president. “It has been our strategy since the 1970s to serve customers in all market segments; it just happens that we¹ve done so well in the construction segment over the past two decades, that it is time we invested more in the non-contractor market segments.To help foster growth in these areas, we¹ve brought on three outstanding people.


Bill Stone
The three recent additions include Bill Stone, who has been named vice president of industrial and commercial business development.Stone will work out of Mayer¹s Birmingham, Ala. corporate offices. With 25-years of experience, Stone is the former president/COO of Electric Motors Sales headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn. His previous experience includes industrial market and sales leadership roles at Border States, Schneider Electric and Siemens. Stone is an active member of AD, NAED and AHTD.
Paul Giler Paul Giler has been named mid-Atlantic region industrial sales manager. Giler will be located in Mayer¹s Charlotte, N.C. regional office. He began his 28-year career in the electrical industry with Rockwell Automation and has also worked for Wesco and Gexpro.Throughout his career he’s helped industrial, OEM, and engineering-procurement-construction companies improve productivity and reduce costs. Among the associations he¹s been a part of are ASME, IEEE, AHTD and the ProfiBUS Trade Organization.
Brian Balmes Brian Balmes has been named southeast region industrial sales manager. He will work out of Mayer¹s Norcross, Ga. regional office. Balmes has 22 years of sales and management experience in the industrial, OEM, commercial, residential, retail, and engineer/constructors markets spanning Eaton, Sprecher+Schuh, GE and Siemens.

Mayer Electric Supply has locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., Mayer employs more than 950 people and has annual sales of more than $592 million.
