KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Milbank Manufacturing is pleased to receive the Excellence in Manufacturing Training Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), based on talent development, recruitment, and employee retention.
SME is an organization that works closely with manufacturing communities to share knowledge and resources that generate solutions to manufacturing industry challenges. In September of this year, SME announced a new award program to recognize a manufacturer for their commitment and dedication to upskilling the incumbent and future workforce. The SME Excellence in Manufacturing Training Award honors innovative best practices in training programs focused on building a high-performing workforce. Submission criteria consisted of alignment to business strategies, job definition, curriculum, quality of instruction, training infrastructure, environment and acceptance, and assessment and validation.
“While employee development has always been a focus at Milbank, in 2017 and 2018 employee development was selected as one of Milbank’s three key initiatives for the organization,” said Tami Green, Learning and Development Manager at Milbank. “The goal was to create a comprehensive training program that would increase job performance and satisfaction and improve operational efficiencies. We are proud to train, educate and prepare our workforce for a successful career in the manufacturing industry,” added Green.
Milbank’s winning manufacturing training program provides continuous improvement by enhancing job performance and satisfaction to increase operational efficiencies. After implementing custom Training Within Industry (TWI) methodologies for Job Instruction (JI), Milbank engages in continuous improvement through the use of these blended training programs.
