NAED Meets With Department of Commerce’s Supply Chain Center

NAED’s Director of Government Relations Bud DeFlaviis and Director of Industry Transformation Scott Wagner recently met with the Department of Commerce’s Supply Chain Center to share an update on an initiative from the association’s Digital Center of Excellence, “Where’s My Stuff?”. The “Where’s My Stuff?” project is focused on improving supply chain transparency and reducing delays across the electrical distribution channel. The meeting comes as momentum builds around the Promoting Resilient Supply Chains Act of 2025.

DeFlaviis and Wagner discussed how the electrical distribution industry is working to eliminate the blind spots and manual gaps that delay fulfillment and frustrate customers. By connecting data across manufacturers, distributors, and contractors, we’re aiming to create a more unified, timely view of material movement and order status—from initial PO to jobsite delivery.

Specifically, we’re focused on improving supply chain visibility, reducing friction between stakeholders, and shifting away from the current state of manual data harvesting “pull” toward a more systemic, real-time “push” of information between stakeholder systems. In addition to creating a clearer picture of where things stand, we see the opportunity to layer in business logic that flags the most critical issues—providing prescriptive insights that help teams prioritize action and keep projects moving.

Commerce officials expressed strong interest in how NAED is uniquely positioned to facilitate cross-industry collaboration and deliver actionable intelligence. This conversation marked the beginning of what we expect will be an ongoing partnership—one that helps federal leaders identify trends, understand bottlenecks, and support policy decisions with real-world insight from one of the nation’s most essential supply networks.
