NAED’s 1Q Economic & Industry Sector Outlook Now Free To Distributor Members

For 2022, the NAED Economic & Industry Sector Outlook will be free to distributor members, thanks to new sponsorships by Schneider Electric and Hubbell. The first quarter’s issue will be available on Friday, January 28.

Manufacturer members of NAED are still invited to purchase the Outlook on a yearly subscription for $850 or by individual quarters for $250 each.

Erin Prinster, NAED’s Business Intelligence Analyst, explained that 2020 was a year that everyone was in a reaction mode because of the beginning of the pandemic. 2021 was a year when we were “getting our sea legs back”’ and then surging demand. 2022 will be a year of “future focus” where we will need to understand the opportunities that are coming our way and look at economic indicators with a perspective on what they will mean for the rest of the year.

“We need to look at things from more futuristic perspectives,” Prinster said on the “DistributED with tED magazine” podcast. “We know we are going to deal with shortages in the supply chain. We know we are going to continue with labor shortages, and we review all of that in the Outlook. But how do we look past that and move forward? This helps with how we prepare for the future.”

Distributors who download the NAED 1Q Economic & Industry Sector Outlook for FREE will have access to the Outlook’s “Connect Page”, which Prinster uses to provide breaking news videos on the economy or additional reports related to the economy and our industry. Distributors will also have the chance to download past Economic & Industry Sector Outlooks from 2020 and 2021 from the Connect Page.

Unlike other economic reports, the NAED Economic & Industry Sector Outlook is made by Prinster specifically for electrical distribution. Prinster examines the indicators needed to create a report for NAED members.

“It is definitely a day in and day out process,” Prinster explains. “I start my day in the first couple of hours looking at recent news, what’s going on, and how it’s going to impact our industry in the future, and what has changed both drastically and minimally. I keep tabs on all of that and track it. We look at more than 36 data points, and all of those data points are constantly being looked at on a day-to-day basis in addition to the different news articles and research.”

Once you subscribe to the NAED Economic & Industry Sector Outlook, you can always receive additional data from Prinster throughout the year.

“At no additional cost, you can contact me at any time and talk about this Outlook,” Prinster said. “I’ve had members call me and say, ‘Hey Erin, I read this, and I just want to understand where you are coming from’. Or, ‘I’m seeing this and might disagree with what you said and I want to see where you are coming from’.”
