Nike Creates First Ever Basketball Court Using LED Lighting

The things you can do with LED lighting these days.

Nike has teamed up with AKQA to create the first-ever LED basketball court in Shanghai, China.  Not surprisingly, Nike is using it’s most popular athlete, Kobe Bryant, to help kick off the new design.

The court is able to change from a regulation basketball floor to one that can be used in any variety of drills, and can even track player movements to help players train.

Bryant kicked off the LED basketball court with a Nike RISE training session with 30 players from China.

Using motion tracking LED technology, the court can lay out sets of moves for players, create drills, show performance statistics and even respond to players’ mistakes.

For now, the only court is in China, but there is the possibility that it will spread around the world.
