NorthEast Electrical Scholarship Program Now Open

BROCKTON, Mass. — NorthEast Electrical, a Sonepar Company, announced that the 2023 Community Scholarships and Grants program is now accepting applications. Sponsored by NorthEast Electrical’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, the scholarship program demonstrates the need to support and diversify the trades as well as reinforcing the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“As a business that services customers throughout New England and employs a diverse workforce, we’re passionate to be champions of creating, supporting, educating, and driving diverse teams and cultures across our many communities,” said Frank Marandino, president of NorthEast Electrical. “The spirit of diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the core of who we strive to be as an organization and an employer of choice,” added Marandino.

“Last year’s response to the scholarship was amazing and we are thrilled to offer it again. The entries we received were incredibly moving, insightful and personal,” said DEI Committee board member, Woody Victor.

All applicants will be asked to write a short essay answering the topic of “Give us an example of a personal experience about how diversity, equity and inclusion has affected your life.” The deadline to submit is May 1, 2023. To promote the scholarship program, NorthEast Electrical has created a dedicated webpage at needco.com/graduate. Flyers are currently being distributed at NorthEast Electrical branches and via sales associates in the field.

2022 scholarship award recipient, Kimberly Cummings, said, “This scholarship finally gave me the chance to gain experience in technical fields that I never had access to in the past. I also greatly appreciate that this scholarship was open to all of New England because it gave me the chance to apply. In Vermont, there are little opportunities to learn about technology and for technology-related scholarships.”

“Receiving these tools allowed me to be able to afford my schooling, leaving me debt free which has been a great help. I will continue to keep striving in the electrical field to be the best version of myself,” added 2022 tool grant recipient Kara Ferreira.
