Outside Salesman for Mars Electric Passes Away

Greg Voutyras, outside salesman for Mars Electric Company, passed away on December 27th. The company released this statement:

“It is with great sadness that we write to you to let you know that Greg Voutyras passed away unexpectedly last week. Greg was a member of the Mars family for nearly 40 years and was a dear friend and colleague to everyone he worked with.  He would always greet you with a ‘Hey Chiefy’ and would always say he was doing ‘just peachy’. All of us who talked with him on a regular basis will miss those interactions dearly. We will continue to keep Greg and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Greg (Gregory) Scott Voutyras, aged 71, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 in Lancaster, Ohio. Born on June 8th, 1951 to Constantine and Hope Voutyras in Columbus, Ohio. Greg attended University School in Columbus and graduated from Worthington High School in 1969. There he excelled at sports, playing football and wrestling. He won a wrestling scholarship to Ohio University and participated in the 1970 NCAA tournament.

He met his future wife, Jeanette Vandenoever at Ohio University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Government in 1974. Jeanette and Greg were married in Lancaster, Ohio that same year. Subsequently they moved to the Cleveland area where they had their three children; Johanna, Gina, and Scott and raised them in Chardon, Ohio. Greg achieved a Masters degree in Urban Affairs from Cleveland State University in 1979. He was a gregarious person with an impeccable memory who loved to talk politics, and was an avid chef who enjoyed wine tasting. He spent 44 years working a beloved job as an outside salesman for Mars Electric Company. Greg truly enjoyed his family and friends, playing golf, watching football and classic films.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, their three children: Johanna Voutyras (Jerig), Gina Haver, and Scott Voutyras, their grandchildren: Jack (John) and Harvey Jerig, his sister Kathy Voutyras and brother Mark Voutyras. He will be missed!
