Effective March 23, Sean O’Brien will resign as president of Acklands-Grainger Inc., Grainger’s Canadian subsidiary.
O’Brien has been with Acklands-Grainger since 2007. He began as the company’s vice president of sales. He then took on e-business and marketing duties in 2009 and was named president later that year.
Mike Pulick, president of Grainger International, will be the interim president of Acklands-Grainger.
“We respect Sean’s decision to pursue opportunities outside the company and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Pulick said. “Acklands-Grainger is performing very well and has a strong leadership team and strong talent throughout the organization. I’m confident the business will continue its successful growth strategy, providing the products and services businesses need to enhance productivity and help keep employees safe on the job.”
With 172 branches, six distribution centers and 2,600 employees, Acklands-Grainger is the largest distributor of industrial, safety and fastener products in Canada. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Grainger and had 2011 sales of $993 million.
