Scott Teerlinck

EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. — Crescent Electric Supply announced that Scott Teerlinck, President & CEO, earned the distinction of a CEO to Watch from Family Business Magazine.

Teerlinck is the second non-family member CEO of Crescent, a company founded in 1919 by Titus B. Schmid. He joined the company in May 2020, and immediately began leading through the pandemic and a company transformation.

“Scott has brought a fresh perspective and a sense of urgency, which has been well received by the board and our associates,” said Dave Keltner, Crescent’s Board Chairman. “He has developed a really strong senior management team, which, along with his industry experience, strategic mindset and transparency about what needs to be done, has given us great confidence that Crescent can produce top-tier results as the company begins its second century of operation.”

With the investment and support of Crescent shareholders and backing of the Board, Teerlinck and his leadership team are transforming the company to provide customers the right products where and when they need them. Crescent is creating a strong network of new distribution centers plus existing branches, a consistent and robust line of value-added services, and innovative digital solutions to save customers time and money. The company emphasizes the important role its employees play in this transformation.

“Scott has created a culture of doing things with our teams collaboratively,” said fourth-generation family member Nick Rhomberg, a Crescent Area Vice President. “This has achieved strong levels of engagement and produced even stronger business results. Crescent Electric is on a strong trajectory of growth because of Scott and the senior leadership he’s surrounded himself with.”

Family business owners, advisers and colleagues nominated chief executives for recognition as Family Business CEOs to Watch. Non-family as well as family CEOs were eligible. Honorees were selected by Family Business Magazine’s editorial team based on the nominees’ exceptional leadership, and balancing of family and business interests. In the end, Family Business Magazine selected only 28 CEOs for this honor.
