Pence will travel to Richmond on Tuesday with Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, Surgeon General Jerome Adams, and senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway.
The group will visit Belden Inc., which offers a program called “Pathways to Employment” that aims to get people struggling with substance abuse employed.
The program allows those who are denied a job because of a failed drug test to enroll in a treatment program.
If they successfully complete their coursework and commit to staying off drugs, they will be provided a job with Belden, which manufactures electronic goods.
The Trump Administration says the program is a “community-based solution” to address the challenge drug addiction has on businesses and communities. Belden employs more than 700 people.
