Service Wire Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Service Wire Company is proud to celebrate 50 years in business. The Company was founded in West Virginia in 1968 with the innovation of a unique product for the industrial industry. They now manufacture over 1800 products and serves Industrial, Heavy Commercial, Utility, Renewable Energy, Pump, Irrigation, and Transit Markets.

The Corporate headquarters in Culloden, West Virginia is one of three nationwide locations, each with a manufacturing plant, a distribution center, and a sales office. The Houston, Texas facility opened in 1980 and the Phoenix, Arizona facility opened in 1999. All three facilities are ISO 9001 certified.

With these locations and a network of stocking warehouses, they are strategically positioned to serve the United States and Canada. Service Wire products have been installed in all 50 States and over 30 Countries.

Their wire and cable – which is 100% made in America – has been used in countless industrial applications and construction projects in the United States, including the Freedom Tower in New York, the Bayonne Bridge in New Jersey, Chicago’s Wrigley Field, utilities, wind and solar farms, and light rail systems across the country.

“This provides a great sense of pride,” according to Seth Weisberg, Vice President. “When people wonder if anything is still made in America, we have the answer. We make our wire right here in America. Our involvement in building this great Country – from baseball stadiums to solar farms – can be a very tangible sense of accomplishment.”

While Service Wire’s employees can take pride in their work, Service Wire takes equal pride in their employees. “Our biggest asset is our people,” says Louis Weisberg, President. “I am a second generation employee myself and am proud to have many father-daughters, father-sons, and brothers working for the company. We also have employees who have been with us for 10, 20, even over 40 years.”

Weisberg feels that reinvesting in their people has been essential to the success of these first 50 years. “I’m proud of the people that have helped us to get where we are today. There has always been a sense of hard work, dedication and taking care of the customer. Service is still the core ingredient that keeps us winning.”

Employees take pride in this culture of service. “Service isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are. From manufacturing to distribution and sales, we have a reputation for service and the highest quality standards in the industry,” says Randy Barrett, Director of Sales in Houston.

To keep up with the ever-growing demands of their customers, Service Wire has continuously reinvested in technology and manufacturing equipment. According to Bruce Kesler, Director of Sales in Culloden, “We have a traditional approach to service combined with a progressive approach to technology and manufacturing. We have modern, state of the art machinery at all three of our locations.”

Mike Madjidi, Director of Sales in Phoenix agrees. “We have shortened lead times by improving our manufacturing equipment. A lot of our growth is in adding capabilities to service customers with our existing line – but faster.”
Service Wire has a 99.9 percent on-time delivery and fulfillment rate that they plan to maintain throughout their growth. To do this they maintain a focus on their core product lines and work to continuously improve the quality of these products. “We are extremely good at the products we make. Instead of spreading ourselves too thin, we focus on inventory and production capabilities,” says Kesler. “We carefully consider the different products that fit within the marketplace.”

Of course, safety standards are crucial in any manufacturing facility. “We incorporate safety into everything we do because we want to protect our most important asset: our people,” says Kesler. “We have a high commitment to safety, which I think increases the productivity of our employees. They know we strive to send everyone home safely at the end of the day.”

Since the foundation of the company rests on quality customer service, the name Service Wire represents the company perfectly. Service is absolutely the backbone of Service Wire Company and will continue to be into the next 50 years.
