CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Energy company Siemens is giving Central Piedmont Community College computer software valued at $32 million to help prepare students for advanced manufacturing careers.
The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1qxOuoU ) Siemens is giving the school its product lifecycle management software used to analyze and manage data used to bring a product to market.
The gift will allow the school to give 40 students per year training on the software. It will also be used to help 18 students in a Siemens apprenticeship program
Siemens is a German conglomerate that makes generators and steam turbines for energy firms at its Charlotte plant that employs 1,600 workers.
