Sonepar’s Van Egmond Groep Acquires Elauma Waagmeester

NETHERLANDS — Van Egmond Groep and Elauma Waagmeester have reached an agreement for the acquisition of Elauma Waagmeester, the specialized electro technical wholesaler for the Industry, machine- and panel-construction sectors.

The acquisition means that the Van Egmond Groep will improve its strategic position in the industrial market in the western region of the Netherlands. Besides the existing locations in Doetinchem, Weert, Veghel and Barendrecht, Van Egmond Groep will now also have offices in The Hague, Zaandam, and Rhoon.

Casper Gerritsen, Van Egmond Groep Board Member, commented, “We are very proud of this acquisition. We have had a fruitful cooperation with Elauma Waagmeester for many years and the employees of both companies are very similar and fit together well. Together we can achieve our ambition to become the most complete electro technical wholesaler and industrial service provider for Industry, machine- and panel construction in the country.”

Geert Laseur, Managing Director of Van Egmond Groep said, “Our customers are located throughout the country. Elauma Waagmeester fits perfectly in our strategy that is focussed on bringing the highly valued industrial technical knowledge, expertise and services even closer to our customers.”

The Van Egmond Groep was acquired by Sonepar in 2015. ” We are pleased to see that the independent position of Van Egmond Groep is strengthening itself in the Dutch market. We are convinced that the acquisition of Elauma Waagmeester will significantly contribute to the expansion of the national coverage and service in the Netherlands,” said Jan Ferwerda, CEO of Sonepar Netherlands.
