In this issue, Zekelman Industries donated $35,000 to charities during its annual Customer Appreciation event.
WARREN, Ohio — Zekelman donated a total of $35,000 to local and national charities as part of its annual Customer Appreciation event. This year’s activities took place over two days in Warren, Ohio, and concluded with a golf outing held at The Grand Resort at Avalon Golf & Country Club on Sept. 17.
On behalf of the winning team, Zekelman donated $20,000 to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness and aiding victims of major U.S. disasters. Some of the organization’s initiatives include providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and building custom smart homes for injured veterans and first responders.
Additionally, Zekelman donated $10,000 on behalf of the second-place team to Common Voices, an advocates’ coalition that works to spread fire safety awareness across America with the message that “fire sprinklers save lives.”
The third-place team’s donation was $5,000 to Prince of Peace, a non-profit social service agency. This agency works to build community and reduce poverty throughout Mercer County and provides support through education, empowerment, and advocacy.
This year’s Customer Appreciation Event began on Monday, Sept. 16, with factory tours of Wheatland Tube’s new Matter automated warehouse in Warren. Tours started at 1 p.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m., where Barry Zekelman, executive chairman and CEO (Zekelman), spoke about the company’s continuing technology investments and focus on world-class service excellence.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Shane Ray, president of NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association), conducted a burn test at 2:50 p.m. showing the importance of fire sprinklers for effective safety precautions.
