Welcome to “The Good Stuff,” where we highlight positive news and ways that NAED employees and member companies go above and beyond to give back to their communities! If you have some “Good Stuff” that you would like to share with tED, find out how below.
Today we’re looking at Southwire:
CARROLLTON, Ga. – Southwire’s Project GIFT recently held its annual toy drive in Carrollton, Ga., benefiting Carroll County Toys for Tots, helping spread hope and joy to the children of west Georgia. Thanks to the generous contributions of Southwire team members, partners, volunteers and local residents in west Georgia, more than 6,200 toys were collected through this event – surpassing the team’s goal of 5,000 toys.
Toys for Tots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity created in 1991 by the U.S. Marine Corps to bring joy to the holidays through the gift of a new toy and by sending a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.
“This is such a special time of year. Every child deserves to have a gift to open during the holidays and we are so thankful to be able to provide that to the children of Carroll County,” said Stefanie Anderson, senior giving back specialist. “It always amazes me to see how so many people come together to support their communities. Each volunteer, each toy and each donation add up to make such a huge impact.” The Toy Drive operated in a drive-thru format so that community attendees could easily move through the service line, pop their trunks and allow Southwire Project GIFT volunteers to unload toys directly into the donation boxes.
Southwire’s Toy Drive was made possible thanks to the generosity of many community sponsors including MedImpact, 3:16 Healthcare, Servpro, Gradick Communications, West Georgia Technical College, Heart Wood Products, Phoenix Wood Products, Tisinger Vance and 2023 Elite Project GIFT Partner, the University of West Georgia, who partnered with Southwire and Project GIFT to collect toys for the event.
“As we are bringing the 2023 Toys for Tots Campaign to a close, I must thank Southwire and the Project GIFT team for all their help this year,” said Garrett Suthard, electronic technician and Carroll County Toys for Tots volunteer. “Without the assistance of the team and volunteers companywide, the journey these toys make from store shelves to family trees would not be the same.”
