Welcome to “The Good Stuff,” where we highlight positive news and ways that employees of NAED-member companies go above and beyond to give back to their communities! If you have some “Good Stuff” that you would like to share with tED magazine, find out how below.
In this issue, we feature Atlas American Lighting.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Atlas American Lighting donates a portion of the proceeds from each sale of its Independence line of lighting fixtures to the Independence Fund. Founded in 2007, the Independence Fund helps empower America’s wounded, injured or ill veterans overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds incurred in the line of duty. The Independence Fund strives to bridge the gap of unmet needs for veterans and their caregivers.
This year, the Independence Fund created a “Feeding Independence” event in Charlotte, N.C. to directly support veteran families with emergent needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce food insecurity. The August 11th event served more than 200 veterans in Charlotte and the surrounding communities. The veterans were served food, cleaning products, other basic necessities, as well as back-to-school items. A team from Atlas also participated in the event.
“We are extremely proud to support the Independence Fund and the outstanding work they do in support of America’s veterans,” said Seth Walters, President of Atlas American Lighting. “Our contributions to the Independence Fund reflect the character of our company and sincere appreciation for the sacrifices made by all who serve, or have previously served, in the United States Armed Forces.”
“Our impact is always expanded when we join hands with strong community partners. Atlas Lighting’s recognition of the gap for many at-risk Veterans is maximizing our work. Their generosity and support are helping us meet the emergent needs of America’s heroes in Charlotte and beyond,” said Daniel Elkins, Chief of Staff of The Independence Fund.
In addition to the company’s support of the Independence Fund, Atlas contributes to the Veterans Airlift Command, an organization that provides free air transportation to combat wounded veterans and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots.
